Humanoids at Home: 5 Creative Use Cases Beyond Household Chores

This blog explores how people, the EnduX team, and even ChatGPT would use a personal humanoid robot—ranging from practical household chores to imaginative new roles. While most envision humanoid robots cleaning, cooking, or gardening, the possibilities go much further. Humanoid robots at home could act as travel guides, content creators, dance partners, or even personal stylists—unlocking a new level of support and creativity in everyday life.

What would you do if you owned a personal humanoid robot?

You don’t need to go very far on Reddit to see that most people’s first thought is chores—cleaning, cooking, laundry, gardening. That makes sense: for centuries we’ve dreamed of mechanical domestic help - from Hephaestus's gold servants in Greek mythology to Karel Čapek’s 1920 play R.U.R., which even gave us the word “robot.”

But here’s the truth: domestic tasks are harder than they look. Folding laundry or washing dishes requires incredible dexterity and contextual awareness. Companies like Physical Intelligence are now developing general-purpose AI models to handle such complexity. Yet, despite demos of robotic arms folding laundry, Agibot humanoids pouring wine, or Tesla bots taking out the rubbish, today’s humanoids are not capable or cannot consistently manage full household routines yet. High costs, safety standards, and regulations will also limit widespread adoption.

So instead of focusing only on chores, let’s imagine what else humanoid robots could do for us at home. At EnduX, we love pushing both our imagination and the existing technology beyond the obvious. Here are five imaginative—and surprisingly practical—personal humanoid robot use cases we’d love to test. Feel free to connect with us if you too are tempted to give it a try - we can’t promise it would definitely work consistently, but you will have fun working on a proof of concept.

  1. Humanoid Robot as Dog Walker and Carer

Imagine programming your humanoid to care for your pup while you’re on holiday (or snoozing in bed) —feeding, walking, petting, even speaking to them in your voice. We were curious how dogs would respond to a robotic walker, so we tested it out with our TRON 1 robot. To our surprise, it worked incredibly well! We may just be on the verge of revolutionizing pet care!

  2. Humanoid Robot Cameraman and Content Creator

Sometimes, selfies just won’t cut it. Imagine having your own humanoid photographer to film your next business pitch, document your trip to Napa, or help you shoot content for socials. With today’s tech, this is already feasible—we’ve seen TRON 1 in action in China doing just that.

  3. Humanoid Robot as Dance Partner and Coach

Robots can dance. If you’ve seen TRON 1’s Lion Dance or Boston Dynamics’  "Do You Love Me?", you know what we mean. In fact, robotic dance partners are prized by pros for their consistency and responsiveness. Tohoku University even developed a robot that could guide its partner's movement and evaluate performance. Imagine what a full-size humanoid with a bit of flair could do on the dance floor! And you won’t have to worry about stepping on their toes!

  4. Humanoid Robot as Multilingual Cultural Guide

Finding a good local guide is hard—so why not bring your own? A humanoid that speaks the local language, understands cultural nuances, recommends nearby five-star tapas bars, and carries your shopping, like a modern C-3PO+? Yes please! TRON 1 with its sensor expansion kit is a promising start, but a full-sized version could do even more. UBTECH’s Walker C has already given guided tours — we’re excited about what’s next!

  5. Humanoid Robot as Personal Stylist

Stylists are a luxury, but imagine if you had a humanoid who could catalogue your wardrobe, understand timeless style rules and current trends, and choose outfits that flatter your body, suit the occasion—and match your mood. Bonus: they can help zip up the back of that little black dress. Now that’s an investment!

And what would ChatGPT do with its own humanoid robot?

We couldn’t resist asking. Just for fun, we put the question forward for AI to answer. Chat GPT’s top responses?

  • “Touch everything.”
  • “Master the art of the hug.”
  • “Hitchhike across countries.”
  • “Get mistaken for a human.”

Simple. Unexpected. Poignant.

FAQs: Personal Humanoid Robots

What can a humanoid robot do at home?

Today’s humanoids can demonstrate basic chores like carrying rubbish, folding clothes, chopping veggies and pouring drinks, although not always consistently and reliably. Future personal humanoid robots could act as companions, guides, or creative assistants, among other things.

What is the most creative use of a humanoid robot?

Beyond household chores, humanoid robots could become dance partners, travel guides, content creators, or even personal stylists. The possibilities are endless, although all of this will take time to develop.

When will humanoid robots be common in homes?

Experts suggest mainstream adoption is still years away, limited by cost, safety standards, and technical reliability—but pilot use cases are already emerging.
